Goal of Holocaust Education

Karen Shawn, editor of PRISM Interdisciplinary Journal For Holocaust Educators, states that the ultimate goal of Holocaust education should be that we teach the children so that after they leave our classroom, they will want to return to the lessons again, and again, and again as lifelong learners.

Holocaust Education is a journey - to empower students to find their voice(s) in becoming a new generation of upstanders who will step-up and speak-up!

  1. I think this is the best that one can hope for - students understanding the implications in their daily life as they confront injustice, inequity and other factors as they maneuver through the minutes, hours and days. I think as teachers, we need to make sure that our lessons extend their thinking past the dates and facts of the time period. Libby
